Klemme: LOL - A fusion take on Charriots Of Fire?! Brilliant! Man, this is some tight playing... reminds me of another HOD drummer, Roger Biwandu and some of his playing with Chic Hot. Very cool. I like the fills going back into the main theme. Man, your crashes sound nice - what are they? Ride too. I like the outro here... how you bring it down up, down up.

WecklsMechanic: Really tastey playing... nice dynamics and feel. I hear a lot of Gadd in both your approach and drum sound... Weckl too. There is a cool little spot with some splashes/bells - what were you using? Yeah, that is a nice ride... K Dry something huh?


Andy Edwards: Wow, you have played with Robert Plant and drummed with Simon Philips and Thomas Lang? Impressive! I saw your site - nice! This solo starts off strong, and ends that way too. I like the Bozzio and Philips in your sound... some really interesting things going on here. That was a good ostinato... nice hat splashes.


maxdis: Nice playing... loose and with good feel, I downloaded "Autumn". Nice little drum break. Are you using the complex ride on that track? It sounds great!

@Andy Edwards: Nice, nice stuff. I love the Meinl cymbals. I had a look around your site and you seem like an interesting player. Your pretty near to me as well (I live in Oxford), and I'm looking for lessons outside of college (I go to Trinity College of Music on saturdays to learn drums). Just a break of some sort cos my drum teacher there is a percussionist, and isn't actually as good as me on drums, plus i have to play on good kits. It would be cool to hook up for a lesson. I talk to my parents or something and PM you details.

Rudy!! Thanks for the props. Some pretty old stuff for me. I've got more recent stuff I'm putting to CD. That ride is a gem I found back in 84 when guitar center used to have some pretty good used stuff. It's my fav..... an old "A" 24" ride. I've got an old original "K" from Zild that way too. I think I paid $70 for both of them. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Hey LD Guy.....

The snare is a Blaimeir (spelling??) 14x5.5 shell with old Ludwig nickel hardware on it. I traded it with a freind......... my god.... some 25 years ago..... for a Ludwig chrome snare. I've got a bunch of weird stuff like this that I scored from a place called "Mel Zelnicks music stop". Used to be in Canoga Park (Cal.) many moons ago. Hank Bellson (Louie's brother) used to teach there. I have yet to find another shell like this because if you crank on it, it's the whole Copeland/Jordan/Brass sounding snare, but loosen it up, and it's a great jazz/woody sound. Fiberglass is really a trip.

I use various cymbals depending. The stuff from that recording is probably from the used stuff I scored many moons ago. A "K" 16 dark crash that was of the old "K" (Sabian) formula, an old Paiste medium "505", a combo of Sabian and Zild HH's, a 21" "A" ride (Thought it was a 24").

I've always been a huge Gadd fan since I was a kidd. I could never understand Vinnie. And Weckl is a huge influence to me, especially when he recorded that Bill Conners "Step It" album. The one thing about Gadd that has always stuck with me over the years is, play a mean, laid back, and really really fat groove. Your fellow musicians will really appreciate it.

I really enjoyed your "Jam on Nov 25th" stuff. I really like the mix of the Hip Hop snare, opening Harp loops, and that whole early "Chicago" sounding Rhodes. Very urban sounding groove/tune.

Are you trigging stuff on "The twitch", or just playing charted out stuff?? Interesting collection of samples.

DrummerDav...... great tune!! Great playing!! Love it!!

And for those of you I didn't mention, I think it's great that we can all come together like this, in a medium such as this, which allows us to climb into the creative minds of such a great talented group. Love all of your playing.
